outcrops
fossil collectors
corsican pines in the falling light

a seagull dives at Langdon Wood
our hero flees
his house now built quite obviously too near the sea

greensand mocks us with ages
a hammer exposes a belemnite
headland
fenceposts reclining
Stonebarrow’s lost in the fading light

smile lines stretch like the arc
that a hammer describes
safely out of sight

bloodspots soon washed away
by the tide or the rain
where were you all night?

this is just a high point in your own head
